Costa Rica:
With a mix of lush tropical rain forests, active volcanoes, cloud forests, Caribbean culture, pacific sunsets, beautiful beaches, ranches, coffee plantations, butterfly farms and much more, Costa Rica is a small country with a lot to offer! The population is just over 4,000,000 people or “Ticos” as they have been nicknamed. Ticos are generally a relaxed people with friendly smiles and big hearts. Costa Rica is proud of its efforts to protect the environment by setting aside 23% of its territory to national parks. In 2007 the government of Costa Rica stated that they want to be the first country to become carbon neutral by 2021 and in 2008 it ranked 5th in the world in terms of Environmental Performance Index (EPI).


San Jose:
San Jose is the capital city of Costa Rica and is located in a region called the Central Valley. The Central Valley is home to ¾ of the countries population and with an average temperature of 23 degrees year round it makes it a very desirable area for people relocating to Costa Rica to retire. With large, modern shopping centers, casinos, night clubs, museums, theatres, markets and much more San Jose has anything and everything you might be looking for.


San Rafael de Escazu:
San Rafael de Escazu is a suburb of San Jose about 25 min away from the international airport. This area has American amenities but still retains a Costa Rican feel. With a number of restaurants, grocery stores and a variety of shops it has the conveniences of downtown San Jose without the noise and crowded streets. This is one of the safest areas of San Jose but like any city in the world, it isn’t recommended to go venturing out on foot at night.
